*Caution, please remember to put in the eggs. Otherwise one ends up with a pan of RED BRICKS instead. Trust me, my ex. did it.* ;-)
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup of shortening
- *2 eggs*
- 1 tablespoon of coco
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2 ounces of red food coloring
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla
- 1 tablespoon of vinegar
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda
Directions:
- Mix the sugar and shortening together until it is creamy
- Add egg and beat well
- Sift flour, coco, salt, add to above mix, alternately with the buttermilk and beat well
- Add red food coloring and vanilla and beat well
- Mix vinegar and baking soda and fold into the batter
- Pour into a 9X13 pan
- Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes
Simple, easy, not any complicated ingredients (except for red food coloring and you can get most any color I assume). Not long to prepare, and easy in the oven.
Note To All NEW Cooks: When directions call for an oven at tempertures in the oven, the oven should always be preheated (approx. 10-15 minutes) BEFORE putting in the cake or whatever.
