A Full Thanksgiving Dinner Menu

Image
I was musing on the Thanksgiving Dinner, when this submission came in, so it actually saved me a great deal of work! There are quite a few full recipes in this posting, and some links, so pick and choose what you like. Thanksgiving Dinner From Paula who submitted this full Dinner Menu: Some are intimidated with the thoughts of making a complete meal for a holiday such as this. My niece asked me to give her a menu plan for her first attempt at making Thanksgiving Dinner. I share the following with you as well. I start a few days before and prepare what can be made ahead. Items such as Cranberry Relish can be made weeks in advance. Some vegetables can be made a day ahead as well as desserts. The best way to approach is to start with a meal plan. Figure exactly what you want to serve your guests. Go through your list and see what can be made ahead. The Turkey Keep in mind, if your turkey is frozen, you will need to allow enough time for it to thaw. Depending on the number of guests ...

Apple Turnovers

Image
Today we have a real special treat from Paula. I moved this up the queue simply because it is just delicious. She writes: This weekend I spent canning. I put up 75 jars of sweet pepper relish. It seems everyone with a garden felt the need to provide me with their green tomatoes. Of couse they will all receive a jar or two of relish. When all the green tomatoes were used, I was left with some red ones and decided , what the heck, may as well jar some marinara sauce. I should have closed my eyes and crawled from the kitchen but I realized, I still have apples needing to be cooked in some form. I think my family is tired of pies and cakes now so it’s on to apple turnovers. When I finished, all that was needed is someone to clean my kitchen. The floor is sticky, there are remnants of apples, tomatoes, peppers and such. It smells good, but, oh the mess… Apple Turnovers Ingredients For Pie Crust ( using as pastry crust for turnovers) 2 Cups Flour ½ Teaspoon Salt ½ Teaspoon Baking Powde...

There are a things we can learn from the following cookie recipe. Never have an early Sunday baseball game Never leave Paula alone with nothing to do in the kitchen Never leave too much in Paula's pantry Lock the Liquor cabinet! Paula loves Peanut Butter Paula writes: When the ballgame is played early on a Sunday, I am left with an afternoon of "what should I do?" Laundry pffft. I went for a walk and when I returned the kitchen called me. This was born today, and if I do say so myself, perhaps one of the best cookies I ever did create. I would have sent a picture had they not been eaten up before I could get the camera. These took less than ten minutes to prepare So what is mishkabobble? It is a hodgepodge of things, a mix-up, a kitchen sink - that combines everything together - and then voila Order from Madness. And so at Help! I Have A Fire In My Kitchen we are proud to be the first ones who can lay claim to: Introducing Paula's Mishkabobble Cookies Ingredient...
