Irish Bread - (Bread For Tea)

Bread for Tea ( aka Irish Bread)


Ingredients:
  1. 2 ¼ Tablespoons of Shortening
  2. 1 Cup of Sugar
  3. 1 Cup of Milk
  4. 3 Cups of Flour
  5. 2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
  6. 1 Egg
  7. 1 Cup of Raisins ( also can be made with chocolate chips instead of raisins)
Directions:
  1. Cream sugar and shortening together with a wooden spoon
  2. Add egg and mix well
  3. Rinse the raisins with water then add to the bowl
  4. Add flour and baking powder
  5. Add Milk and mix well
  6. Pour into greased loaf pan and bake
  7. 350 F. degree oven for 45 - 60 minutes (toothpick inserted in center should come out dry)




Easy, simple and great way to start learning how to make bread! Nowadays with the bread machines available, and their growing capacity, you can use the recipe and then put it into your Home Breadmaker - time it to bake for it to be ready early in the morning when you awake, and voila! - Great Bread!
