Simple Fudge Cake

The following is Gillian's recipe (Food, Recipes & Little Known Facts From The Past) for Fudge Cake. Gillian writes:
This is the Anglo-Australian equivalent of chocolate mud cake. Use good
quality cocoa, and be generous. Quality ingredients are particularly
important in this cake. If you want to make it more interesting, add a
pinch of your favourite spice and fill with ganache.
Ingredients:
  1. 2 tablespoons butter
  2. 2 tablespoons cocoa
  3. 1 cup sugar
  4. 1 cup self raising flour
  5. 2 eggs
  6. 1 teaspoon vanilla
  7. ½ cup milk

Directions:
  1. Melt milk with butter.
  2. Add cocoa.
  3. Stir until smooth.
  4. Add sugar, flower, eggs, and vanilla in the order listed!
  5. Beat for two minutes.
  6. Bake in a moderate oven for about 35 minutes.
